The God Who Needs Nothing, Yet Gave Everything
Come and Be Still Before the One Who Is
There are moments when the soul grows quiet enough to remember how small we really are. Moments when the noise of our striving falls away, and we stand before a God who was never created, never needed us, never lacked a single thing — and yet chose to give Himself for us.
This is the God we worship. He is the One true Creator. There is no other. His Name is Truth — not a shifting idea, but the eternal Reality that holds all things together. He is the Maker who fills all creation, yet is not contained by it. He is without fear. He is without hatred. He is the Everlasting One, from eternity past to eternity future, the same. He is uncreated. He exists of Himself alone. And the only reason any of us can know Him is because of grace.
The God Who Needs Nothing
Before the mountains were formed, before a single star burned in the sky, God already was. Psalm 90:2 says, “From everlasting to everlasting you are God.” He did not become God. He did not grow into power. He simply is. This truth alone is enough to quiet the proudest heart. We spend so much of our lives trying to prove we matter, trying to secure our place, trying to become enough. Yet the God we claim to serve has never needed a single one of us. Acts 17:25 tells us He is not served by human hands as though He needed anything. He is self-existent. Self-sufficient. Complete in Himself. And still… He came near.
The Weight of Being Known by Grace
John Newton was a man who trafficked in human lives. A slave-ship captain. Hardened. Violent. Lost. He once described himself as a wretch who had fallen so far that even the memory of God felt distant. Yet grace found him. Not because he cleaned himself up. Not because he deserved a second chance. Grace found him because God chose to make Himself known. Newton later wrote the words that still undo people centuries later: “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.” That is the only way any of us come to God. Ephesians 2:8-9 says it plainly: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” We do not discover God by climbing high enough. We are found by a God who came low enough.
The Blood That Made the Unreachable Near
Here is the heart of it all. The eternal, fearless, self-existent God did not remain distant. He entered the world He made. He took on flesh. And then He poured out His blood. The same God who needs nothing chose to need a cross. The One without beginning allowed Himself to be broken. The Timeless One stepped into time so that the guilty could be made clean.
This is not religion. This is not self-improvement. This is atonement. Blood was required, and blood was given — not the blood of animals year after year, but the blood of the Son of God once for all. When we truly see this, worship stops being something we do and becomes something that happens to us.
We stop performing.
We stop pretending.
We simply bow.
The God who was never created… the God who never needed us… the God who is Truth itself… looked upon our brokenness and decided we were worth the cost of His own life.
That is the God Jaxson Harlan Ministry points to.
Not a distant force. Not a cold principle. But the living God who is both terrifying in His holiness and breathtaking in His mercy. So come. Be still. Let the weight of who He is settle on you. And then let the greater weight of what He has done for you in Christ lift your head.
You were not reached by your effort. You were reached by His blood. And that is enough to humble a lifetime… and enough to fill a lifetime with worship.

O Lord our God,
You alone are the One true Creator of heaven and earth.
Your Name is Truth, eternal and unchanging.
You are the Maker of all things, the One who holds all creation together and fills all things with Your presence.
You are without fear, and in Your presence all fear must flee.
You are without hatred, full of steadfast love and mercy.
You are the Everlasting One, from eternity to eternity the same.
You are uncreated, having neither beginning nor end.
You exist of Yourself alone, needing nothing, the source of all life and light.
And by Your grace alone we come to know You — through Jesus Christ our Lord, who has made You known.
To You be all glory, now and forever.
