Test The Word - Jaxson Harlan Ministry

A Biblical Guide for Discerning Prophetic Ministries

“Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:20–21We will never stand in this ministry and say, “Thus saith the Lord” over next week’s headlines. That is not our calling. The calling we do have is older and quieter: point people to the Book that is already open, to the Christ who already spoke, and to the kind of hope that does not need a new revelation every morning to stay alive.

A lot of hungry people have been hurt by voices that sounded spiritual and proved empty. Some of you hung your week on a date. Some of you hung your peace on a name. When Friday came and nothing changed but the light, you were more emptied than before. This page is for you. Not to mock the hunger. To put a plumb line back in your hand. The Lord already told us how to weigh a word. We do not need a new system. We need to use the one He wrote down.

First things first: we do not despise prophecy

Paul did not say “ignore every claim that God still speaks.” He said do not despise prophecies — and test everything. Both commands sit in the same breath.Scripture itself is prophetic. The gospel was announced beforehand. The Spirit still convicts, comforts, and applies the Word He already inspired. None of that requires a man or a woman to climb into the chair of “prophet to the nations” and start issuing political weather reports. So we start here: respect the gift. Refuse the performance. The same line we have already drawn with tongues applies here. A sound is not the same thing as the Spirit. Volume is not the same thing as authority. Frequency is not the same thing as faithfulness.

The tests Scripture already gave us

These are not our opinions. They are the checks the Bible puts in the hands of ordinary believers. You do not need a special office to use them. You need a Bible and a little courage.

1. Does it agree with what God has already said?

God does not contradict Himself.

“If they do not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.” — Isaiah 8:20

“Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” — Galatians 1:8

Any word that moves Christ off the center, adds a second gospel, treats the written Scripture as outdated, or makes salvation hang on a date, a candidate, or a secret computer is already failed. The test is not “does it sound anointed.” The test is “does it sit down under the Book.”

2. Did the specific thing happen?

This is the test people skip because it is uncomfortable.

“When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.” — Deuteronomy 18:22

Notice what the verse does not say. It does not say “wait ten years and then spiritualize it.” It does not say “the Lord meant it metaphorically after it missed.” If a voice claims the Lord named a person, a date, a death, a collapse, a reinstatement, or a public exposure, and that thing does not happen, the Lord did not send that word.Vague language after the fact — “it was a spiritual fulfillment,” “the timeline is God’s not ours,” “keep watching” — is not a test. It is a way around the test. You are allowed to keep a simple record. What was claimed. When it was claimed. What actually occurred. That is not cynicism. That is obedience.

3. Does it exalt Jesus — or the messenger and the moment?

“The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” — Revelation 19:10

A true word makes Christ larger. A false or fleshly word makes the speaker larger, the enemy larger, the news cycle larger, and the listener more dependent on tomorrow’s video.Ask honestly:

  • After I hear this, do I want more of Jesus or more of this voice?
  • Do I close the Bible or open it?
  • Am I being trained to wait on the Lord, or to wait on the next drop?

If the ministry cannot survive a week without a fresh “word,” the Word that is already written is not being treated as enough.

4. What fruit grows in the people who live on this voice?

“You will recognize them by their fruits.” — Matthew 7:16

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” — Galatians 5:22–23

Watch the flock, not just the platform.Does this teaching produce endurance when the date passes, love for the brethren who disagree, a quieter trust in the sovereignty of God, holiness, generosity, a return to Scripture and prayer — or rage at named enemies, panic when the prediction slips, contempt for the “asleep” church, addiction to the next revelation, and a thin gospel that cannot carry cancer, grief, or an ordinary Tuesday?Fruit takes time. Hype is instant. That difference is one of the Lord’s kindnesses.

5. Is the life behind the microphone submitted to the same Book?

Character is not the only test, but it is not optional.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” — Matthew 7:15

Look for ordinary Christian things: humility when corrected, financial openness without pressure, a gospel that does not need your money to keep God speaking, a willingness to say “I was wrong” when a word fails, and elders or a body that can actually say no.A ministry that warns you about impersonators but never submits its own words to the Deuteronomy 18 test is asking you for a trust the apostles never demanded for themselves. The Bereans were called noble for checking Paul against Scripture (Acts 17:10–12). You are allowed to be a Berean too.

6. Does it create fear of missing the secret — or faith in the Shepherd who already spoke?

Jesus said His sheep hear His voice (John 10:27). He did not say they need a daily briefing from a third party to know whether God is still on the throne. If a word trains you to believe that you will be unprotected, uninformed, or left behind unless you keep watching this one channel, that is not the voice of the Shepherd. That is a hook. The written Word, the gathered church, the Lord’s Table, prayer, and the ordinary means of grace are not Plan B for people who lack a prophet. They are Plan A.

What we will not do here

So the lines stay clean:

  • We will not name living ministries in order to win an argument.
  • We will not issue our own dated words for governments, elections, or public figures.
  • We will not claim “God showed us” that someone else is false. That would be doing the thing we are warning against.
  • We will not build an audience on outrage about other pulpits.
  • We will not treat discernment as a spiritual personality type. It is obedience, not a brand.

Warning is not warfare. A man who has sat in enough waiting rooms does not need extra thunder to feel close to God.

A simple way to walk this out this week

When a clip, a post, or a “word” comes across your screen, pause and ask five questions out loud if you have to:

  1. Where is this in the Book I already have?
  2. Is anything here specific enough to be tested later?
  3. If that specific thing does not happen, will I be told I lacked faith?
  4. After this, do I want Christ more — or this voice more?
  5. What would I still believe on Monday if this entire ministry went silent?

If you cannot answer those without anxiety, set the phone down and open the Psalms. God has not left you short.Hold fast what is good. That includes every true encouragement, every Scripture rightly applied, every quiet leading of the Spirit that looks like Jesus. Testing is not the same as sneering. It is how sheep stay with the Shepherd instead of following the loudest staff in the field.

A word from the prairie

I have watched people hang their hope on a date and a name. I have also watched the Lord keep a man when the dates failed and the names disappointed and the body itself became a battlefield. The hope that lasted was never the extra word. It was the old one.The cross already happened. The tomb is already empty. The Book is already closed in the sense that the gospel does not need a sequel. Whatever God still does in the earth will not make that smaller. It will only prove it was enough.Test the word.

Keep the Word.
Stay with Jesus.

Test The Word – (Featuring Treasured Heart)

Artist: Treasured Hearts · Jaxson Harlan Ministry
Style: Gospel Rock

Verse 1
They said the Lord had whispered dates and names
And every throne would fall by Friday night
I waited with the rest of the hungry ones
Then Friday came and nothing changed but light

Pre-Chorus
I still believe the Spirit moves
I still believe He speaks
But I won’t trade the Shepherd’s voice
For thunder on a screen

Chorus
Test the word, keep the Word
Hold fast what is good
If it don’t come to pass
It never stood
Test the word, keep the Word
Don’t bow to the noise
The Book already told us
How to weigh a voice
Stay with Jesus

Verse 2
They built a pulpit out of headlines and fear
Sold me a secret I was dying to hear
But the tomb was empty long before that show
And the hope that held me never needed more

Pre 2
I still believe the Spirit moves
I still believe He speaks
But a sound is not the same as fire
And a gift is not a scheme

Bridge
The testimony of Jesus
That’s the spirit of the word
Not a date, not a name
Not a rumor that you heard
If it don’t look like Jesus
Let it fall
If it don’t feed the hungry soul
It ain’t the call

Final chorus / tag
Test the word, keep the Word
The cross is still enough
Friday failed the forecast
But Friday never touched His love
Stay with Jesus
Stay with Jesus
